JSJ for Animals

Jin Shin Jyutsu Animal Class

Class objective: Introduce dog owners to the Ancient Art of Jin Shin Jyutsu Self- Help and provide instruction on how to apply this form of acupressure on their animal companion.

Julianne will begin the class with a brief overview of the Physio-philosophy of Jin Shin Jyutsu (JSJ) and how she came to work with animals. We will learn some easy self-help acupressure treatments that we will first practice on ourselves, and then later practice on our dogs.

Examples of some disharmonies or health conditions that can be addressed are:

  • healing time after injury or surgery
  • digestive and elimination concerns
  • skeletal and muscular issues
  • circulatory problems
  • arthritis, rheumatism and other age related imbalance
  • emotional imbalance

Wear comfortable clothing so as to be able to be on the floor. Bring a yoga mat or blanket for your comfort and your dog’s. Please be sure to have your dog on a leash at all times.

Sharing Jin Shin Jyutsu with animals is a very rewarding experience, a way to connect with them and support their healing needs.

Central Park Dog Celebration '11Julianne Dow is a Certified Jin Shin Jyutsu® Practitioner for people and animals in Riverdale and Saugerties, N.Y.. She began her practice with animals when her beloved yellow lab, Emerson, had a tumor on his neck that was “concerning”. She treated the tumor project by giving daily Jin Shin Jyutsu treatments as part of their “going to bed” routine.  After three weeks, the tumor was gone.  This was just the beginning of her work with animals. She has been treating horses, goats, sheep, pigs, turkeys and chickens with Jin Shin Jyutsu at the Catskill Animal Sanctuary since 2009 for such medical projects as arthritis, blindness, infections, muscle strain, emotional balance, skeletal and spine alignment, stress, elimination, pain management, accumulations, and more.
